Group Training

Community Moves strives to help people become stronger and more mobile. Our group exercise sessions in Neutral Bay incorporate aspects of strength development, aerobic conditioning, mobility and flexibility, balance, coordination. The goal is for participants to be able to move with confidence while remaining physically strong! Let’s check out how.

Our Primary Areas of Focus:

STRENGTH DEVELOPMENT:

Building and maintaining strength as we age is critical to our health and quality of life. The loss of strength and muscle mass as we age (sarcopenia) can cause a cascade of issues including loss of physical function, loss of motor control and coordination, loss of movement confidence, reduced metabolic function and resistance to disease, and more…

At Community Moves, our members complete strength training every session and always record great increases in all the aforementioned categories once they begin.

STABILITY TRAINING:

Core and Stability training is a key part of any good exercise program as it is a key component of effective human movement. Learning to stabilise and control our body effectively whilst we apply and react to various forces goes a long way to helping us maintain our function and reduce the risk of injury.

This should be done in as many ways as possible to reflect the millions of situations you may encounter in daily life that will require you to react with strength, stability, and confidence.

AEROBIC CONDITIONING:

Aerobic activity is essential in keeping our cardiovascular system in tip top shape. In fact, small efforts aimed at raising your daily heart rate will make large improvements in cardiovascular health- and that means less risk of developing diseases like high blood pressure or diabetes .

In addition to the many benefits attained by the heart and lungs, regular dynamic movement is great for pain management, increasing coordination, reducing the risk of falls, and building confidence in your ability to prevent injury.

Balancing and coordinating activities are not only good for your physical outcomes but also have a positive effect on the brain. Achieving balance while performing coordination tasks has both great benefits in terms of achieving better physical outcomes, as well as improving cognition through balancing out the neurotransmitters that help us with focus and memory recall.
